WAYNE FLETCHER BIOGRAPHY

Mister Wayne's dream of working in the barber profession took root when he was a shoeshine boy in a Sparta barbershop. As a young adult, he served as a U.S. Navy plane captain and then moved to Nashville, where he attended Hassler Barber College at night and eventually opened Tennessee's first California Concept salon at 100 Oaks Mall. He later moved to Cookeville, where he opened a Markham Unisex Salon on the TTU campus. The salon was designated the "Best All-Around Shop in the Southeast" by the renowned Jim Markham, a stylist to the stars and founder of the Pureology product line.

But personal success was not enough for Mister Wayne; he decided he wanted to share the keys to his success with other young people who dreamed, as he had, of a career in the beauty industry. That's why, in 1979, he and his wife Melissa opened Mister Wayne's School of Unisex Hair Design. In their 29 years of teaching, Mister Wayne and Melissa have shared their technical expertise, life lessons and, perhaps most importantly, their philosophy that "the difference between a career and a true profession is emphasis on personal service, sincerity, positive attitude, integrity and honesty."
